China's own mobile TV standard for handheld devices

  • CMMB is an assorted standard for China’s own MDTV technology targeting at devices with small LCD(<7”).>st half of 2007.
  • You can download the updated standard from www.abp.gov.cn/biaozhun/
  • · 25MHz bandwidth in 2.6GHz(2635-2660MHz) has been allocated for CMMB trial. The satellite and terrestrial network use the same spectrum and form a SFN (Single Frequency Network).
  • SARFT has registered a company China Satellite Mobile Broadcasting Corp, who will be the broadcaster of S-Timi. The company has rolled out five towers in BJ to do the pilot run of S-Timi.
  • Two satellites will be launched to cover the whole PRC. The first one will mainly cover the eastern China and will be launched in the 1H 2008. Terrestrial coverage will begin in 2007.
